Apartment living in Rosebank

One of the best-connected and most easily walkable neighbourhoods in Johannesburg, Rosebank is a perfect example of compact urban living. For those who call the district home the most important amenities such as supermarkets, retail stores, pharmacies, restaurants, co-working spaces and a Gautrain station are just a few minute’s walk from your door.

The suburb has changed dramatically over the past decade, becoming ever more cosmopolitan with its mix of 1950s-era apartment blocks such as the distinctive Roseways, Harrogate and Broadlands rubbing shoulders with tall new state-of-the-art apartment blocks. Some of Rosebank’s older corporate buildings have been transformed into residential buildings, further adding to the rich mix of commercial and residential properties.

The Vantage was one of the first ‘new’ residential buildings to go up in Rosebank. When The Vantage held its launch event in 2014 inviting investors to buy apartments off-plan, almost all of the 165 units were sold within a week. The location is hard to beat, situated right at the top of Tyrwhitt Avenue, a stone’s throw from The Zone@Rosebank. The building offers one, two and three-bedroom serviced apartments and studios. There are some apartments available for short to medium stay serviced apartment rental and the building is popular with visiting corporates as well as tourists.

Location: Corner Cradock Avenue and Tyrwhitt Avenue

You could hardly live closer to Rosebank’s biggest attractions than at this new 15 storey, 140 apartment building completed in March 2021. Located right on the doorstep of The Zone@Rosebank, the Rosebank Gautrain station is a mere two-minute walk away. The Median offers one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, high-speed fibre, SMEG appliances and gas stoves.

Location: Corner Tyrwhitt Avenue and Bath Avenue

The Tyrwhitt

Completed in 2020 The Tyrwhitt is one of Rosebank’s biggest residential buildings with 219 units, ranging in size from 54m² to 135m², as well as 260m² penthouse apartments on the top floors. The views over the surrounding suburbs from the north-facing balconies are spectacular. Amenities at the 14-storey building include a generator, fast fibre-optic internet and a 24-hour concierge service. One of Rosebank’s most affordable rental apartment buildings, in 2019 The Bolton was converted from two office blocks into rental apartments. The Bolton offers compact furnished or unfurnished studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments that are marketed squarely at young professionals. Park Central

One of Redefine Properties’ latest luxury residential developments, Park Central has 159 high-end apartments, studios and penthouses. At 20 storeys this is now one of the tallest buildings in Rosebank and its distinctive facade includes several ‘sky gardens’ leading out of its most luxurious apartments.

Park Central comes with a range of high-end amenities including concierge services, a gym and a rooftop swimming pool and terrace, as well as a gas-heated centralised hot water system. Also available to residents is an exclusive venue for private events which has its own gourmet kitchen.

Location: Corner Hood Avenue and Jan Smuts Avenue

The Apex on Smuts

You can’t miss this distinctive arrow-shaped building on Jan Smuts Avenue with its eye-catching angular covered balconies on the corner of the building that offer 280-degree views. There are 75 upmarket furnished and fully equipped apartments available for short-term and corporate rental as well as longer-term leases.
