Festive greetings from the Rosebank Management District

As we approach the end of yet another tempestuous year owing to the Covid-19 global pandemic, the Rosebank Management District (RMD) commends without reservation the tenacity and resilience demonstrated by its members, stakeholders, residents and the business community to ensure continued economic activity and stability in Rosebank.

The RMD has always believed in the essence of collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve all its plans and objectives, and we believe 2021 was testament to this notion. This was beautifully demonstrated when we hosted our first-ever major events namely the Rosebank Media Activation and the Rosebank Transport Indaba in association with the Gauteng Provincial Government, City of Joburg and the business community.

Among other highlights is our partnership with FNB Art Joburg to revitalise art and social activity in the Rosebank precinct and surrounds, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency to boost investments and economic activity in Rosebank.

Not overlooking the aforementioned successes, the RMD Board of Directors and stakeholders have great concerns pertaining to the realisation of the City of Joburg’s development plans and maintenance mandate.

Since RMD was established in 2008, we have yet to witness progress on the city’s tabled plans and legislation for City Improvement Districts (CID), particularly Rosebank. Not only has this left business owners frustrated but also has dwindled investor confidence. We are constantly faced with ever-increasing pressure to provide services that fall outside our mandate.

Our plea to the City of Joburg administration is of defined partnerships and collaboration as we are in dire need for very basic delivery. The RMD is willing and committed to assisting where possible for the betterment of the node, its residents, stakeholders and the business community.

I would like to extend a vote of thanks to all partners we work closely with – The F.I.R.M Rosebank chapter, VumaCam, AI Surveillance,  TSU Reaction teams, Faraday Taxi Association, Rosebank Residents Association, Residents Transport Action Group and the City of Joburg for their respective roles in RMD’s achievements in the year. 2021. Let us continue to collaborate for the advancement of the Rosebank community.

To the Board of Directors, thank you for the voluntary dedication of your time to serve on the board, without remuneration — your efforts are greatly appreciated. Lastly, to the Excellerate Services staff, our public safety officers and cleaning teams, thank you for your stellar service and labour in making Rosebank great. Despite the Covid-19 turbulence, each of you reported for duty without fail, and for this I commend you.

The RMD is not closing for the holiday period. Our staff remains on duty 24/7 as per usual operations. RMD/LRMD members, residents, stakeholders and business owners are reminded that they can contact the RMD security operations centre directly on 087 094 9999 for prompt response.

Happy festive season to you and your loved ones. Enjoy responsibly, observe all Covid-19 protocols and stay safe. All the best for 2022!
