Festive greetings from the Rosebank Management District – 2022

As we near the end of a challenging year, the Rosebank Management District (RMD) acknowledges the great determination and efforts of its members, stakeholders, the business community, residents and visitors for continuously supporting our efforts to ensure Rosebank remains the best place to live, work and play.

2022 has had its fair share of surprises, and changes, as we emerged from two Covid-defined years, but together we have managed to work on creating positive interventions in the district.

In September 2022, LocalAbode officially took over the reins as RMD’s appointed management company, bringing a new Operations Manager to the district — Basil Ngakane. Read our interview with Basil here.

Together with our stakeholders, RMD continues to strive for Rosebank to stay on the map as Joburg’s fastest growing City Improvement District. As such, in August 2022, we hosted the Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg, Dr Mpho Phalatse for a walkabout of the precinct, and an opportunity to put forward pressing issues in the neighbourhood and the importance of private-public partnerships. We are hopeful for improved working relations with the City of Joburg entities in the coming year.

The fight against crime remains a great concern of ours in Rosebank and greater Johannesburg. In efforts to tackle this, RMD is working together with law enforcement and security stakeholders and continue to conduct blitz operations to deal with concerns of drug dealing, phone-snatching and other crimes in the neighbourhood. We have been working closely with JMPD to do away with illegal parking on our streets, and look forward to pro-actively finding solutions.

For ongoing safety of the district during the festive season, we will be deploying additional security on the streets for increased visibility. Similarly, our cleaning team will be working extended hours from Dec 1 to Dec 27, making sure our precinct is clean and accessible to all.

We urge all residents and visitors to report any illegal and/or suspicious activities to our hotline on 076 822 9580 for immediate response. Alternatively, reach out to law enforcement.

For the year 2023, RMD has exciting initiatives and projects coming to the precinct — these include the refurbishment of streets and sidewalks, an upgrade of the Rosebank taxi rank, increased Metro Police visibility, and more. To join us and support these initiatives, please contact our membership office on 082 386 2680 or mikhaela@localabode.co.za.

RMD extends its gratitude to all service providers for striving to deliver excellent service with pride and dedication. To the Rosebank community, a special thanks for joining forces with us in ensuring Rosebank charges ahead. To the board and stakeholders, we appreciate your support and enabling role in the work we do — the best is yet to come!
