Public parking and e-hailing in Rosebank

As with many urban areas experiencing rapid growth and development, Rosebank has been faced with numerous transport challenges. The increased volume of people into the district has brought with it many positives, but also a spike in illegal parking and the pressing need for designated e-hailing zones.

We are committed to improving safety, mobility and traffic flow throughout the node, and in 2023 launched #GoRosebank, an initiative to improve mobility in Rosebank, both for drivers and pedestrians.

To address some of these issues, the RMD/LRMD initiated a comprehensive road and walkway upgrade project in 2022 with the aim of improving traffic flow and minimising illegal parking. This involved the clear demarcation of additional on-street parking, street markings, and traffic signage -– starting with Bath and Tyrwhitt Avenues.

Cradock Avenue, Rosebank.

In support of the district’s efforts, many properties, especially retail centres in the precinct, have made parking available for a minimal fee or free, for a limited period. These parking areas are usually manned by security officers to ensure the safety of patrons and their vehicles. Here’s a handy list of where to park in Rosebank.

  • Rosebank Mall – entry to the parking can be accessed from all major streets including Sturdee, Bath, Baker and Cradock Avenues. Parking tariffs range from R8.00.
  • The Zone @ Rosebank – parking is accessible from Cradock Avenue and Oxford Road. Parking rates start from R9. Monthly parking is also available to those who work close by and wish to park at The Zone.
  • The Firs – basement parking with security is accessible via Biermann Avenue and the first hour is free.
  • Keyes Art Mile – free parking is accessible on Keyes Avenue with onsite security.
  • Oxford Parks – secured basement parking is available at the entrance located at 48 Eastwood Road, Dunkeld. Parking tariffs applicable.

If you are using e-hailing services, we strongly recommend the designated pick-up and drop-off points within the node for optimal safety and convenience. Here are some of the active e-hailing zones:

  • Starbucks/The Bank/ The Zone – a dedicated pick-up and drop-off area is located on the corner of Tyrwhitt and Cradock Avenues. RMD/LRMD security personnel are available for assistance and direct traffic flow here.
  • Rosebank Mall – a new e-hailing zone is now accessible on Bath Avenue with signage, and monitoring by security personnel.
  • The Firs – pick-up and drop-off is strictly in the basement parking accessible on Biermann Avenue. Please note that pedestrian access on Cradock Avenue now closes at 17:00 on weekdays for safety purposes.
  • Oxford Parks – there are two e-hailing zones, Cnr Jellicoe Avenue and Oxford Road, and 48 Eastwood road – both with security personnel onsite.
  • Keyes Art Mile – patrons are advised to use the main entrance on Keyes Avenue for all pick-ups and drop-offs. Security personnel is available for assistance.

In light of these efforts, the Rosebank districts urge visitors and residents to utilise these designated parking and e-hailing zones for improved safety and mobilty in the node. Where possible, we also encourage the use of the Gautrain as a safe and reliable transport system into the area that eases pressure on our roads.

We continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies such as the JMPD to maintain law and order in the neigbourhood. It is important to note that failure to adhere to parking and traffic regulations may result in traffic fines, vehicle clamping, or towing by the relevant authorities.
